Greater Accra Regional Minister Prioritizes Security and Sanitation
The newly sworn-in Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has announced security and sanitation as her key priority areas for the capital city.
During her first meeting with the management and staff of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council on February 3, Ocloo outlined her vision for the region, highlighting the reintroduction of the Regional Sanitation Day and an award scheme for the cleanest city as key initiatives aimed at improving sanitation in Accra.
She noted that municipal and district assemblies would be supported to become self-sustaining as part of the new government’s
Mrs.Ocloo also expressed her commitment to working closely with traditional authorities and religious organizations to deepen decentralization and participatory governance.
“I will closely work with traditional authorities, religious organizations, and other stakeholders to deepen decentralization and enhance participatory governance,” she stated.
She further stressed the importance of empowering Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) and local districts to enhance revenue generation, ensuring sustainable development at the grassroots level. “The strengthening of zonal and area councils will continue to monitor and provide technical support to MMDAs, as mandated by the Local Governance Act 936,” she added.
