Wilfried Osei Palmer blames GFA for Black Stars AFCON failure

Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member, Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer, has stated that the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) reflects the decline of the association.
Palmer emphasized that neither the players nor the management staff have been able to reverse the situation, which he believes is troubling for Ghana’s football future.
The Black Stars finished bottom of their qualification group, which included Angola, Sudan, and Niger, failing to win any of their six matches.
“Black Stars failure to qualify for the AFCON is a degeneration of the FA as a structure or a system,” Palmer said in an interview with Joy Sports.
“If you look at the performances of the players as well as the management, you realise that a whole of things were not going well for the team. We have changed coaches over the period and it has not helped us in any way.”
Palmer also suggested that the FA needs a “reset” if the Black Stars are to return to their former glory.
“If we really want to make giants strides, there will be the need for us do a whole lot of resetting of the FA as a structure and the Black Stars as a team,” he added.
