Nathaniel Bassey to make history at US Presidential Prayer Breakfast
Renowned Nigerian gospel artist and pastor, Nathaniel Bassey, has been announced as the first solo African gospel minister to be invited to the prestigious US Presidential Prayer Breakfast Meeting.
The host of the event, Reverend Merrie Turner, revealed the historic invitation ahead of the 8th Inaugural Ceremony, scheduled for January 20, 2025, at the Waldorf Astoria Presidential Ballroom. Held every four years, the event brings together leaders and dignitaries to pray for America, the presidency, and the peace of Jerusalem.
Turner Praises Bassey’s Impactful Worship
Reverend Turner expressed her enthusiasm for Bassey’s participation, emphasizing the spiritual depth and global influence of his music.
“It is a great honour that Nigeria will bring the worship music that will lead us into the Presence of God,” she said. “I experienced Nathaniel Bassey’s music for the first time about a year and a half ago at a conference in Virginia, where he was one of the guest artists. His music has the power to take believers into the Presence of God and the throne room — exactly what America needs right now.”
Turner also highlighted the international scope of the prayer breakfast, noting the attendance of 22 foreign ambassadors and five heads of state, including representatives from Congo, Togo, El Salvador, Colombia, and Argentina.
