Stonebwoy supports Neonatal Care at Greater Accra Regional Hospital

RENOWNED dancehall artiste Stonebwoy, in collaboration with the Livingstone Foundation, has extended a helping hand to mothers of premature babies by donating baby care products and settling medical bills at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
This act of kindness seeks to alleviate the significant financial burden and stress faced by families of preterm infants after their discharge from the NICU.
For many mothers, the inability to pay hospital bills results in prolonged stays, further compounding their difficulties. Recognizing this pressing issue, Stonebwoy and the Livingstone Foundation took the initiative to cover the medical expenses of some mothers unable to settle their bills.
Drawing from his personal experiences, Stonebwoy shared a heartfelt story about his own struggles with medical bills. “I have a history with hospitals and understand the struggles of affording medical care. In my own case, I had an orthopedic issue that required me to go home and raise money to pay back. So, I can deeply relate to the plight and pain of those who need care but can’t afford it,” he said.
Stonebwoy also stressed the importance of amplifying public awareness about key issues in childbirth and neonatal care, stating that it is his first time visiting a baby care unit and he is very passionate about babies because not many people truly understand the kind of care they need to thrive and grow.
He indicated that the experiences these babies endure and the delicate care required to look after them are truly remarkable
His visit has inspired him to continue advocating for better neonatal care and support for families.
Stonebwoy underscored the high need to pay attention to NICUs, reassuring his commitment to making a difference in the lives of premature babies and their families.
He also noted the critical role of neonatal care in ensuring healthy futures for newborns, reminding the public of their shared responsibility to support the most vulnerable members of society.
He mentioned that the visit to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital’s NICU forms part of the activities Stonebwoy is undertaking ahead of his annual “Bhim Concert.” Speaking further on his advocacy efforts, Stonebwoy reiterated his dedication to supporting mothers and enabling them to focus on caring for their babies without the added worry of financial constraints. “It is important to support these mothers and ensure they can focus on their babies without the financial stress that often comes with such situations,” he said.
