Melcom Care Foundation inspires healthy eating with red grape donation to schools

The Melcom Care Foundation, in its effort to promote health and well-being, has donated 900 boxes of red grapes to the Kaneshie West Cluster of Schools.
The initiative aims to encourage healthy eating habits among students by highlighting the nutritional benefits of fruits.
The foundation hopes to inspire students to make nutritious choices that contribute to their overall well-being.
Communications Manager at the Melcom Group of Companies, Sabastian Korle Haward said the donation aims to instill healthy eating habits among students, emphasizing the benefits of fruits like red grapes, which are rich in vitamins and antioxidants.
He added that the initiative reflects the foundation’s commitment to improving the well-being of young learners and creating a healthier society through education and nutrition.
He explained the reasoning behind choosing the Kaneshie West Cluster of Schools, noting that “We selected this school due to its proximity to Melcom Plus North Kaneshie and our commitment to making a positive impact in the communities where we operate”.
He highlighted that this is their inaugural initiative and that they plan to expand it to other schools in the future.
He also mentioned that the program will be extended to additional schools as part of the Melcom Care Foundation’s ongoing commitment to promoting community wellness.
The Municipal Director of Education for Ablekuma Central, Monica Ansaba Kumahor, expressed her profound gratitude on behalf of the municipality for donation made to the Kaneshie West Cluster of Schools.
She acknowledged the significance of the gesture and its impact on the community.
“On the directors’ platforms, you see donations happening in other places, and I wondered when it would be our turn. Little did I know that your beautiful initiative would make our municipality the first to benefit from it, and specifically, the Kaneshie West Cluster of Schools.” she stressed.
She also hinted at future plans, indicating that the initiative might pave the way for more significant developments
The Headmistress of Kaneshie West Cluster of Schools, expressed her deep gratitude for a generous donation from the Melcom Group of Companies.
She shared her joy, reflecting on the significance of the gift, particularly in light of the hardships brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic
“I’ve been asking myself every day whether we could provide children with something as simple as an apple or any other fruit. Today, I am pleased and filled with gratitude for this gift.” She said.
She highlighted the importance of making nutritious fruits accessible to children. She encouraged parents and the school community to promote healthy eating habits among children and, where possible, patronize fruits like red grapes, which provide vital nutrients for growth and development.
