90,000 tailors, dressmakers and PWDs  to hone skills

The Springboard Road Show Foundation has signed a partnership with the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GNTDA) to equip over 90,000 tailors, dressmakers, and persons with disabilities across Ghana with essential skills and resources for personal and career development.

The collaboration, under the Ghana Grows Programme—a joint initiative with the Mastercard Foundation—aims to boost career opportunities for young people, particularly those aged 15 to 35, within the technical and vocational skills sector.

The Ghana Grows Programme focuses on creating decent jobs in the agriculture, agribusiness, and Agricultural Technical Vocational Education and Training (ATVET) sectors. This partnership will support both current and aspiring GNTDA members, encouraging them to become resourceful professionals who contribute to Ghana’s economy. The programme is designed to inspire young apprentices and master craftsmen to embrace innovation within Ghana’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) industry.

Speaking about the partnership, Comfort Ocran, Executive Director of the Springboard Road Show Foundation, said, “We want to see every young tailor and dressmaker reach their full potential, not just for themselves but for their families and Ghana as a whole. Our joy is full when we help young people thrive, becoming meaningful individuals with viable jobs who contribute to the development of our nation.”

This collaboration will also expand awareness of the technical and vocational skills sector by providing members of the GNTDA with access to training, mentoring, and psychosocial support from professional counselors. Mrs. Joana Eshun Mensah, the National President of GNTDA, encouraged members to take advantage of this unique opportunity, saying, “These kinds of opportunities only come once in a while. I entreat all members of GNTDA to utilize this opportunity from Springboard Road Show Foundation to the fullest. I believe it will be beneficial to us all.”

The Springboard Road Show Foundation has, for over 16 years, been committed to empowering Ghana’s youth, and this new partnership underscores its dedication. Working alongside various partners—including Lyme Haus, Axis Human Capital, Meraki Arts Africa, the Ghana Psychological Association, and the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations—the foundation aims to deliver a comprehensive support network for young people across Ghana. Comfort Ocran concluded by encouraging GNTDA master craftsmen and apprentices to join the Ghana Grows Programme, stating, “We urge all under GNTDA to participate in the interventions being rolled out nationwide, ensuring the future of Ghana’s technical and vocational workforce is stronger than ever.”
