Joseph Paintsil makes history with LA Galaxy after tenth MLS goal

By Lukman MUMIN, Accra
Joseph Paintsil’s tenth goal in the MLS makes LA Galaxy the first club in the history of the league to have four players with ten or more goals in a single season.
Painstil has joined Dejan Joveljić (14 goals, 5 assists), Gabriel Pec (13 goals, 12 assists) and Riqui Puig (11 goals, 14 assists) as players with double digits at LA Galaxy this season.
The Ghanaian forward has now contributed 20 goals in the league, with ten coming in the form of assists.
“I think kudos to the technical team. Kudos to everyone involved bringing us together as a team. We didn’t do it together, even though it was me, Riqui (Puig) and the rest. We did it as a team,” said Paintsil after the game.
“It’s really an amazing thing that the four of us have ten plus goals, it’s a plus for us and for the team. It will also give us the confidence to do extra more and to also write our name in the history book of L.A. Galaxy at the end of the season.
“That’s what we always are trying to make it manifest and let it happen. Everyone wants to write his name in the book of L.A. Galaxy at the end of this season.”
LA Galaxy sit top of the Western Conference table and have already clinched their place in the play-offs.
