Otto Addo leaves Ghana door opened for Eddie Nketiah and Hudson-Odoi

By Lukman MUMIN, Accra

Head coach of the Ghana national Otto Addo has stated that the ‘door is always opened’ for English-born forwards Callum Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah to join the Black Stars.

The two players remain eligible to represent Ghana at senior level despite making a handful of appearances for the Three Lions of England.

Hudson-Odoi has not played for England in over three years while Nketiah featured in international friendlies last year but was omitted from the squad for the European Championship.

“The door is always opened. The first time I came here as Coach for the game against Nigeria, I was after them but they said they needed time and they are still not here,” he said during the presser for the
announcement of his AFCON qualifiers squad. “It’s just that, to be honest, players who want to join the national
team should come quite early to get familiar with me, with the team, the players and Ghana,” he added.

“I have their numbers, I call, I texted them but the are always welcomed,” he added.

The Black Stars will host Angola on September 5 before facing Niger four days later.
