GTA unveils December in GH tourism extravaganza

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) is poised to reveal the eagerly awaited calendar for December in GH 2024 at a special event scheduled for Friday, August 23, 2024, at the historic Castle Gardens in Osu, Accra.

Since its inception in 2019 as part of the ‘Year of Return’ initiative, December in GH has evolved into a pivotal cultural and tourism celebration. The initiative, launched to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in Virginia, has since become a cornerstone of Ghana’s tourism industry. It attracts visitors from across the globe who flock to Ghana to immerse themselves in the country’s vibrant heritage, arts, and entertainment scenes during the festive season.

This year’s December in GH promises to be no exception, offering a spectacular lineup of events that showcase Ghana’s natural beauty, rich culture, and warm hospitality. The initiative also fosters connections between visitors and local communities, creating a festive atmosphere that highlights the nation’s unique cultural identity.

The collaborative efforts between the GTA and event organizers have been instrumental in the success of December in GH. The 2023 Tourism Report highlights the positive impact these events have had on Ghana’s tourism and hospitality sectors, particularly benefiting Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs). The influx of tourists has led to increased hotel occupancy rates, vibrant restaurant scenes, higher transportation usage, and boosted sales for local artisans. This, in turn, has empowered business owners, creatives, and entrepreneurs while helping to preserve and promote Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.

The 2024 calendar launch is organized under the auspices of the Beyond the Return Steering Committee and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture. As anticipation builds, December in GH 2024 is set to once again captivate audiences with a vibrant celebration that underscores Ghana’s place as a premier cultural and tourist destination.
