Curious Minds Ghana calls on Ga Mantse

By Zeenatu ABUBAKAR, Accra

Curious Minds Ghana, a youth-led non-governmental organization, has paid a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Tsuru II, at his residence in Accra.

The visit aimed to brief the Ga Mantse on the organization’s ongoing projects addressing child labor and child trafficking, as well as to seek his support for these initiatives.

The team, led by Project Officer, Ezekiel Doku, emphasized that Curious Minds’ efforts align closely with the priorities of the Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, who has demonstrated a strong commitment to the welfare of children and young people.

Ezekiel Doku stated that the organization’s core mandate revolves around ensuring the best interests of children and youth, and he expressed hope for a productive partnership with the Ga Mantse to amplify their efforts in improving the lives of young people in Accra and beyond.

“Curious Minds has been at the forefront of addressing issues related to young people and children since 1996. We recognize the importance of working within Ga communities, especially in Chorkor, Newtown, and Ada, where we are currently focused on combating child labor and trafficking,” he explained.

He noted that since these communities fall within the Ga Mantse’s jurisdiction, it was prudent to inform him of their activities and seek his blessings to enhance their work.

He added that Curious Minds operates in seven regions across Ghana, addressing a wide range of issues including domestic violence, gender-based violence, and education.

He reiterated the organization’s dedication to tackling not only poverty but also broader issues that hinder the progress of youth in Ghana, and he looks forward to collaborating with the Ga Mantse to help educate children in coastal areas.

In response, the Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, expressed his support and underscored the importance of addressing youth issues.

He assured the delegation of his commitment by pledging to assign his lawyers and the Ga Mantse’s foundation to form a committee to develop strategies and solutions for the challenges faced by young people in the community.

He also encouraged Curious Minds Ghana to bring any concerns to his attention.
