Ambition Consult launches Admissions Checker to simplify university application process for SHS graduates

Ambition Consult, an IT solutions agency, has launched a web-based platform to streamline the university admissions process for Senior High School (SHS) graduates.
The new website, Admissions Checker aims to assist SHS students in making informed choices about universities and courses they can pursue.
The launch held in Accra, comes as students prepare for university admissions this year.
Official Partner of the Admissions Checker project, Albert Tetteh explained that the platform not only lists available courses and cut-off points but also helps users understand their positioning within the competitive landscape of university admissions.
He stated that the current admissions process often involves uncertainty and significant costs, with applicants purchasing multiple university application forms at considerable expense, hoping to secure admission.
“This is the problem that Admissions Checker seeks to solve, bringing certainty to students and parents and offering them a realistic approach to their university and course choices,” he said.
He added that the platform’s benefits include preventing uncertainties and reducing the high costs associated with multiple applications under the current system.
According to him, the web application allows senior high school students to input their West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) or November-December (NovDec) results into a portal that contains tertiary admissions requirements.
The system then analyzes the data using algorithms to determine the likelihood of gaining admission to various universities for the student’s chosen courses.
“Based on the results from Admissions Checker, students can target their applications to universities and courses where they have a higher probability of gaining admission,” he explained.
He noted that despite data-related challenges from various institutions, there are representatives in Ghanaian universities to provide updates for the platform.
He assured users that they could navigate the system easily and mentioned that offline modes would be considered in the future.
To access the platform, individuals must register and pay a fee of GHS 5.00.
Lawyer Musah Tanko emphasized the importance of attending top universities in Ghana but reassured students that not being admitted to such institutions should not be a concern.
He encouraged students to make a difference wherever they find themselves in the tertiary system and to act as ambassadors for the project to assist others in making informed choices about their tertiary education.
