Legon Sports Stadium set to host MTN FA Cup final
The 2023–24 MTN FA Cup finals are set to take place at the newly constructed Legon Sports Stadium in Accra, according to an announcement made by Wilson Arthur, the committee chairman.
Additionally, the semi-final matches are slated to be held at the WAFA park in Sogakope.
Mr. Arthur provided further insight into the factors that guided their decision-making process.
“After further discussions, we changed our original plan to hold the semi-finals and finals at the newly constructed Tarkwa TNA Stadium and Legon Stadium, respectively,” he told Akoma FM in an interview.
“However, the TNA stadium was not ready.
“We thought about going to Samarboi, but after some consultations, we decided that going to the Volta would be more helpful, so we went back to our backup plan, which was Sogakope.
“Despite, this year’s finals will be held at the Legon Stadium, we aim to designate this venue for the semi-final and final rounds of the competition in the future, subject to exco approval.”
The Legon Sports Stadium, which recently hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2023 African Games, has emerged as a prominent venue for sporting events.
It not only served as a focal point for track and field events during the Games but also hosted numerous matches in the Men’s football competition.
