Oduro Sarfo warns against attempt to sack Otto Addo

Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Nana Oduro Sarfo has insisted that they will not bow to public pressure and sack Black Stars coach, Otto Addo.
The 49-year-old who was reappointed on a three-year deal with an option of a two-year deal has come under severe pressure after failing to guide the senior national team to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament for the first time in two decades.
After recording three draws and three defeats and finishing at the bottom of Group F with three points, the majority of the masses demanded the dismissal of the former Borussia Dortmund assistant coach. However, the country’s football governing body has strengthened the technical team of the Black Stars with the 2026 World Cup qualifiers set to resume in March later this year.
Despite calls to sack Otto Addo, Oduro Sarfo speaking in an interview said they will not allow anybody to mount pressure on them to show the former FC Nordsjaelland assistant coach the exit.
“We will not allow anybody to put pressure on us to sack Otto Addo,” he told Guide Radio.
Meanwhile, German trainer, Winfried Schaffer has been named as the technical advisor for the Black Stars.
Additionally, Desmond Offei, the current head coach of Ghana’s U20 team, has been promoted to the Black Stars’ technical bench as an assistant coach, replacing German Joseph Laumann.
Offei will join assistants John Paintsil and Fatawu Dauda, who will continue in their roles under Otto Addo.
Kris Perquy will serve as the team’s psychologist, while Gregory De Grauwe will take on the role of video analyst.
