Awuku acclaimed Parliamentary candidate of Akuapem North
Former National Organiser and recent Campaign Manager for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Mr. Sammi Awuku, of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has successfully crossed a major milestone in his political journey.
At the close of nominations on November 30, 2023, Awuku emerged as the sole candidate for the Akuapem North parliamentary seat and was acclaimed at an extraordinary delegates conference held over the weekend in accordance with the party’s constitution.
Currently serving as the Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Awuku expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of the constituency.
Addressing a gathering of enthusiastic party supporters, he stated, “It will be an honor to represent the interests, concerns, and aspirations of the constituents.”
During his acceptance speech, Awuku emphasized the importance of unity within the party and extended an olive branch to all aggrieved supporters, urging them to join forces for the betterment of the constituency.
“This is a call to service,” he declared, highlighting the need for collaboration to address issues such as roads, health, potable water, and electricity in the area.
Awuku reminisced about his political journey, spanning over ten to eleven years, and acknowledged the support of friends and party members.
“We engaged the party people, and they kept saying that I would be given the opportunity when the time came. I don’t take this for granted. On any day, whether rain or shine, I will stand by them, and we will develop the constituency together,” he affirmed.
Expressing gratitude to the Chiefs and People of Akuapem North, Awuku promised never to let them down as he takes up the challenge of creating positive change and shaping the future of the constituency.
“Your unwavering support and encouragement have meant the world to me. Together, we can create positive change and shape the future of our constituency,” he assured.
The acclamation ceremony witnessed the presence of all Eastern Regional Executives of the NPP, led by Regional Chairman Mr. Jeff Konadu Addo, as well as Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of some state-owned agencies.
Dignitaries in attendance included the Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Okyere Baafi, Immediate Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area and Presidential Staffer Dennis Miracles Aboagye, and Ghana’s Former Ambassador to China, Ambassador Afari Donkor.
The event marked a pivotal moment in Awuku’s political career, setting the stage for the 2025 parliamentary elections in Akuapem North.
