By Rebecca Okine

The Manhyia Palace has declared a ban on all funerals across Asanteman on Thursday, 21 August 2025, to allow the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the people of Asanteman to observe the one-week celebration of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III.

The Palace, in a statement issued on Tuesday, 12 August 2025, said the observance will be held at Bogyawe, Manhyia Palace, from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m., with all funeral activities suspended in honour of the late queen mother.

The death of the Asantehemaa was officially announced by the Asantehene on 11 August during an Asanteman Council meeting attended by all paramountcies and clans.

Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III passed away on Thursday, 7 August 2025, at the age of 91.  She ascended the stool on 6 February 2017 at the age of 83, succeeding her mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem III, who died in 2016 at the age of 111.
