Gov’t email system down

By Praisebell Rosemond Larbi

The National Information Technology Agency (NITA) has confirmed a temporary disruption of the Government of Ghana’s official email platform, a key digital service used by ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to facilitate official communication and service delivery.

In a statement released on Wednesday, 27 August 2025, NITA explained that its technical team had already identified the root cause of the outage and was working tirelessly to restore normal operations.

The agency emphasised that resolving the disruption remained its top priority, given the central role the government email platform plays in the administration of state functions.

“We understand the importance of this platform in supporting government communication and public service delivery, and we sincerely regret any inconvenience this disruption may cause,” the statement noted.

According to NITA, the temporary outage has not affected the overall security and integrity of the system. It assured stakeholders that all sensitive data and communication records remain protected.

The agency added that its engineers were implementing corrective measures to ensure a swift restoration and to prevent similar disruptions in future.

NITA further pledged to keep institutions and users updated on progress through official channels until the platform is fully restored.

It expressed appreciation to government staff, partner agencies and the public for their patience, understanding and cooperation as the technical team works to bring the system back online.
