NDC calls for termination of SML contract

The opposition National Democratic Congress has called for the termination of all contracts between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML).
The Party described the contracts as illegal and another indication of the wanton dissipation of the public Purse by the governing New Patriotic Party government.
“We in the NDC here demand the immediate termination of all, not some, all illegal contracts entered into between SML and the GRA. Here we are talking about their transaction audit agreements, their external price verification agreements and their downstream petroleum audit agreements”
Speaking at the Moment of Truth series, National Communications Officer for the NDC, Sammi Gyamfi, contended that all the agreements enter into with SML are unlawful.
He said the NDC is surprised by the decision by government to allow SML to continue the performance of “their illegally procured downstream petroleum audit services, while merely recommending the termination of the other unlawful contracts”.
The NDC further, thus demanded among other things; the retrieval of all payments made by government to SML; the immediate publication of the full KPMG investigative report on the dealings between SML and the GRA and the prosecution of all persons involved in the award of illegal contracts and the illegal payments thereof, to SML.
“The NDC wishes to reiterate the pledge by our flag-bearer and leader, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, that the next NDC government will not recognize the illegal contracts between the Government of Ghana and SML, upon assumption of office in the year 2025. When elected into office, we shall launch credible and transparent investigations into this stinking SML scandal, with the aim of retrieving for the State, all illegal payments made to SML and ensuring the prosecution of all persons who are complicit in these illegal transactions”.
