Fifi Kwetey dismisses divisive tribal politics claims

General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has refuted claims made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that he engages in divisive tribal politics.
In a statement, Mr Kwetey clarified that the video circulating with accompanying remarks was misleading and incorrect.
He explained that during an NDC retreat in January 2023, he emphasized the importance of the party to the people of the Volta Region.
Kwetey clarified that his intention was to encourage the people to see the NDC as a unifying force similar to a religion, not to promote divisive tribal politics.
He cited parallels with the strong political loyalty observed in the United States for either the Democratic or Republican Party.
Accusing the NPP of spreading false narratives to exploit political circumstances, he asserted that the accusations lacked merit and were a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation.
He criticized the NPP for resorting to distortion and deception as desperate tactics to cling to power.
Mr Kwetey called on well-meaning Ghanaians to discern the desperation of the NPP and treat such publications with the disdain they deserve.
The General Secretary reiterated his commitment to promoting unity and discouraged the manipulation of public perception through misleading narratives.
