They should still support the team – Prosper Ogum begs Kotoko fans

Head coach of Asante Kotoko Sporting Cub, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has called on the fans of the club not to lose hope and trust in the current technical team despite a string of poor results in recent games.

Kotoko have had a topsy-turvy season since the arrival of Prosper Ogum.

Ogum admits results have not been favourable but said this is not the time to abandoned ship or apportion blame.

He pointed to his team’s poor finishing as the biggest problem after the Porcupine Warriors suffered its latest defeat in the 2023-2024 BetPawa Premier League season.

Kotoko lost 1-0 to Dreams at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi with the loss coming on the back of a three-game stretch without a win for the Kumasi based side.

Speaking in a post game interview, Dr. Ogum, who wore a very dejected look, highlighted the team’s poor finishing as the main reason for the loss to Dreams FC.

“Our finishing” he said in response to what went wrong with his side in the game and added, “It’s not good automatically, it’s not good. You don’t win, the feeling is bad.”

“They (the supporters should still support the team, we will work harder and make sure that we make them proud.”

Kotoko plays Samartex and Medeama away from home in its next two games.

Ogum knows all about the pressure of leading a side as big as Kotoko. Two seasons ago he won them the league title but left the club under strange circumstances in what many insiders say was as a result of his disagreement with the former management team led by Nana Yaw Amponsah as CEO.

Ogum returned this year and his hoping he can repeat the strategy that helped him win the title two seasons ago.
