AI-Powered Firms Set to Outperform Traditional Businesses

The Director of Appiah Information Systems, Eric Appiah, has warned businesses that fail to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) risk being outperformed by competitors who embrace the technology. In recent years, Artificial intelligence has become a growing driver of productivity and competitiveness across global industries, with businesses increasingly adopting the technology to automate processes, reduce costs and improve efficiency. Speaking on Business Breakfast on Zed 101.9FM, Mr. Appiah said competition is an inevitable part of every industry, but the use of AI is rapidly changing how businesses gain advantage.
“Every business has competition. You have competitors, and of course, a business that is using AI will literally outdo a business that is not using AI,” he stated.
He explained that the core concept of artificial intelligence is to enable machines to learn and perform tasks traditionally carried out by humans, but at a much faster pace and with greater efficiency.
According to him, organisations that integrate AI into their operations can complete in seconds tasks that would ordinarily require large teams of 50 to 100 people.
Mr. Appiah cited journalism as one of the sectors already experiencing major transformation through AI. He noted that emerging AI agents can now be trained to replicate the writing styles of journalists and handle multiple newsroom tasks.
“In media we can use AI agents to copy the writing style of journalists. From scouting for news to writing, many of these processes can be done by AI,” he explained.
However, he stressed that human input would still be essential, particularly in gathering news from the field and providing firsthand reporting.
Mr. Appiah noted that similar AI-driven efficiencies are being seen across other sectors, underscoring the growing need for businesses to adopt technology or risk falling behind in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
