Reverend Godwin Kofi Ahlijah Inducted as New President of Ghana Evangelical Missions Association

By Christabel Oboshie ANNAN, Accra

Reverend Godwin Kofi Ahlijah has been inducted as the new President of the Ghana Evangelical Missions Association (GEMA).

The Ghana Evangelical Missions Association serves as the National Christian Missions Umbrella Body of Ghana.

Reverend Ahlijah, inducted as the fifth President of the Association, will be responsible for leading the association in spreading the good news of Christ Jesus to far-reaching places.

He was inducted alongside his Vice President Eugene Yakohene, Secretary Yesutor Gumenu, Treasurer Richness Okai, and three executive members: Rev. Kumah Doe, Missionary Tony Lauber, and Pastor Samuel Asiamah.

The induction service, held at the Calvary Baptist Church, Shiashie, was officiated by the General Secretary of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Obuobi, and attended by ministers from various denominations.

Preaching on the theme “The Gospel,” Apostle Samuel Obuobi emphasized that “the Gospel is all about Jesus Christ and His works for us on the cross.”

He stated that the gospel is not about what man has done or can do, but about what Jesus has done. The only thing man can do is to believe and repent.

He noted that when man adds to or subtracts from the gospel, it dilutes its potency.

The General Secretary of the Church of Pentecost urged preachers to focus on the gospel and avoid politicking in the church.

“It’s time for us to rise up, move out of the church auditorium, and proclaim the gospel,” he stressed.

The outgoing President of GEMA, Rev. Ray Mensa Mensah, in his address, said, “The Great Commission of the church is too big for anyone to accomplish alone and too important.”

He added that the church in Ghana must contribute significantly to world evangelization, not just Ghana’s evangelization.

Reverend Godwin Kofi Ahlijah, in his address, sought the support, prayers, and partnerships of GEMA members as well as outgoing executives to ensure the work of God is accomplished.

He called for unity among the new executives and members of GEMA, adding that there is strength in unity.

“We want to see a massive mobilization of young people in the mission fields to win more souls for Christ,” he added.

He stated that GEMA aims to rekindle the spirit of Acts 2, where the disciples were on fire and won souls for the kingdom of God.
