Highly-rated Ghanaian striker Malik Abubakari has signed a three-year deal to join Danish Superliga side Lyngby Boldklub.
The 24-year-old joins the club from Swedish champions Malmo FF in the summer transfer window.
Lyngby Boldklub’s football manager, Nicas Kjeldsen, expressed his enthusiasm for the signing, highlighting Abubakari’s speed and ability to make deep runs.
“As a striker, Malik has a really exciting package,” he said. “He can give us some of what we’ve been missing on the front line in terms of some speed and some deep runs that we’ve been missing a little bit.”
“It is not a one-on-one replacement for Andri, although Malik has some of the same ‘presence’ on the court. But Malik gives us a few more strings to play on and fits in well with our way of playing,” he added.
Abubakari will wear the number 9 shirt for his new club.
Abubakari, a product of the Charity Stars youth academy, previously had a loan spell in the Danish top flight with Viborg FF.
Although he is yet to earn a senior cap for the Black Stars, his move to Lyngby Boldklub is seen as a significant step in his career.
