Fatawu Issahaku hails Jamie Vardy at ‘Back Stronger’ premiere

By Victor Kwawu

Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy holds a special place in Abdul Fatawu Issahaku’s memory, the Ghanaian forward revealed at the premiere of his documentary, ‘Back Stronger.’

Issahaku, a huge fan of the English striker, confessed he loved seeing Vardy score during their time together at the club.

The documentary’s launch at King Power Stadium drew over 500 passionate Leicester City fans, who gathered to celebrate Issahaku’s journey. Held in the iconic Weller Lounge, the event was filled with excitement and admiration for the 21-year-old winger, affectionately known as “Fatawu7”.

The documentary chronicles Issahaku’s courageous comeback from a devastating anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

During their two-season partnership, Issahaku and Vardy combined to lead the Foxes back to the Premier League and later played together in the 2024/25 campaign. Although Vardy left Leicester City for Cremonense after 13 years, Issahaku fondly remembers their time together.

“He always made everything easier for wingers. When I put the ball in the box, he would put it in the net. I felt better and happy when he scored. When he scored, it was amazing. He made it easy to win games, and I am so happy to have played with him,” Issahaku said during the Q&A session.

After a successful injury recovery, Issahaku is enjoying a strong start to the season, scoring three goals and delivering two assists in 12 matches for Leicester.
