Oscar Naasei Shines in Granada’s 2–0 Win Over Deportivo La Coruña

Ghanaian defender Oscar Naasei delivered another impressive performance for Granada CF as they secured a 2–0 away victory over Deportivo de La Coruña in the Segunda División.
The 21-year-old defender came off the bench to play 34 minutes, marking the first time this season he has started a match as a substitute. Despite his reduced minutes, Naasei made a solid impact, helping Granada maintain control of the game as they secured all three points on the road.
Naasei had previously featured in the club’s last 16 matches as a right-back, but he was deployed in his natural centre-back position during the encounter. Standing at 1.85 metres, the Ghanaian used his physical presence and composure to help keep Deportivo at bay in the closing stages of the match.
Although he started the game on the bench, Naasei has been a consistent presence for Granada throughout the current campaign. The young defender has made 29 appearances in the Segunda División this season, underlining his growing importance within the squad.
Naasei joined Granada in 2023 and has steadily progressed through the ranks to establish himself as a key member of the team. His development and reliable performances have contributed to Granada’s strong push for promotion back to La Liga.
Born in Accra, Naasei remains eligible to represent the Ghana national football team at the international level.
With Ghana preparing for qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the defender’s steady progress in Spain could strengthen his case for a future call-up to the national team. If his current form continues, Naasei could soon emerge as one of Ghana’s promising defensive options on the international stage.
