Content Creators Must Prioritize Value Over Vanity Metrics

Digital Marketer Joanita Amegashie has urged content creators, especially those hoping to work with brands and businesses, to shift their focus from vanity metrics to value-driven engagement. According to her, offering genuine value is essential to building trust with clients in today’s competitive digital space.
Speaking on Business Breakfast on Zed FM, Madam Amegashie noted that many content creators concentrate solely on accumulating likes, views, and followers a strategy she believes is short-sighted. She emphasized that brands are more interested in creators who can influence purchasing decisions and drive real engagement.
“In today’s digital landscape, content creation is no longer just a numbers game. It’s not about how many followers you have, but what you do with them. Businesses want results, they want to see conversions,” she stated.
Madam Amegashie explained that the ultimate goal of content marketing is not popularity but profitability and influence. “If you have a thousand followers, you need to convert enough of them to patronize the service or product you’re promoting. That’s the kind of value businesses are looking for,” she said.
She added that creators must also build personal credibility and consistency to attract long-term partnerships. “You have to give your audience a reason to trust you. That comes from consistently creating meaningful content and aligning yourself with brands that reflect your values,” she explained.
Amegashie also encouraged young and upcoming creators to focus on personal development.
“Use content creation as a tool to improve your communication skills, your branding, and your understanding of your audience. These are the things that set professionals apart from hobbyists,” she added.
Her remarks come at a time when digital marketing is becoming increasingly results-oriented, with businesses demanding return on investment for every collaboration. As brands tighten their marketing budgets and become more selective about partnerships, the call for creators to deliver measurable value continues to grow.
