Ghanaian boxer Isaac Dogboe faced a setback in his pursuit of a title shot, experiencing a unanimous decision loss to unbeaten featherweight Nick Ball in their WBC featherweight title eliminator.
The twelve-round contest, held at AO Arena in Manchester, England, showcased Ball’s relentless and aggressive approach dominating Dogboe throughout the fight.
Despite Dogboe’s moments, including a ninth-round counter left hook that briefly rocked Ball, the Ghanaian boxer struggled to consistently find success against his younger opponent. Ball’s strategy of maintaining an aggressive pace and outworking Dogboe paid off, resulting in a clear victory on the judges’ scorecards.
In the 12th and final round, Dogboe attempted to rally, but it was not enough to sway the judges.
The scores were unanimous, with Mark Lyson scoring it 119-108, Kevin Parker 118-109, and Kieran McCann 116-111, all in favor of Ball.
This defeat marks Dogboe’s second consecutive loss, following his previous defeat to Robeisy Ramirez in an April WBO featherweight title fight.
The setback challenges Dogboe’s hopes for a title shot, requiring him to regroup and strategize for future opportunities in the highly competitive featherweight division.
On the other hand, Nick Ball’s impressive win propels him further into title contention, solidifying his position as a rising star in the featherweight ranks.
Ball’s victory opens doors for potential high-profile matchups in the featherweight division as he continues his ascent in the boxing world.
