Accident on Labadi Trade Fair Highway leaves eight injured

A serious accident occurred on Giffard Road, Labadi Trade Fair, involving a yellow urvan bus with registration number GW 5588-22.
The vehicle, carrying eight passengers, veered off the road, resulting in severe injuries to all onboard.
The victims, who were on their way to work, suffered significant injuries, with some losing consciousness and others experiencing profuse bleeding.
Despite the chaos, a remarkable moment of gratitude unfolded as one survivor, shaky but alive, knelt down to offer thanks to God, joined by a woman amidst the pain and turmoil.
The accident, which occurred on a major route to the Burma Camp frequently used by military personnel in the mornings, prompted swift action from nearby servicemen who stopped to assist the injured.
Volunteers also stepped in to transport the victims to the nearby 37 Military Hospital for urgent medical attention, approximately 20 minutes after the incident.
Eyewitnesses described the moments leading up to the accident, citing the urvan’s high speed and failed attempt to avoid colliding with another vehicle. The impact caused the urvan to somersault and veer onto the opposite lane, narrowly avoiding a more disastrous outcome.
Although damaged, both the yellow urvan and another vehicle involved in the accident took the worst of the collision.
The Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service played crucial roles in ensuring the injured received prompt medical care and that the scene was managed effectively.
Residents and bystanders at the scene highlighted the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and responsible driving practices, urging commercial drivers to prioritize safety to prevent future accidents.
They called upon the media and relevant stakeholders such as the National Road Safety Authority to raise awareness about the dangers of speeding and neglecting vehicle faults, emphasizing the need for collective action to ensure road safety for all.
