Access Bank, DHL team up to boost Ghanaian SMEs with trade, training support

Access Bank and DHL have joined forces to support the growth of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) across Ghana through a new strategic partnership aimed at expanding their reach and global competitiveness.
The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Accra on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, with a goal to empower at least 50,000 SMEs over the next year.
Kafui Bimpe, Head of SME Africa at Access Bank, told journalists after the signing that the partnership blends Access Bank’s trade finance expertise with DHL’s global logistics network to help local businesses thrive.
“Our combined efforts will deliver real value to SMEs, especially those looking to expand beyond Ghana,” Mr. Bimpe said.
Beyond financial support, the collaboration will introduce training and capacity-building programmes to help SMEs become export-ready.
“Many businesses want to grow internationally but don’t know where to start. We’ll guide them through the process—from registration to finding buyers,” Mr. Bimpe noted.
Access Bank will also offer trade financing at competitive rates to ease the cost burden for SMEs, addressing what Mr. Bimpe described as one of the biggest hurdles facing small businesses. He added that supporting SMEs is critical not just for the companies themselves, but also for job creation and long-term economic growth.
