Andre Ayew makes 200th appearance in Ligue 1

Ghana captain Andre Ayew has reached a significant milestone in his football career, clocking up his 200th appearance in the French Ligue 1 during his latest outing for Le Havre on Friday night.

The 34-year-old featured for the entirety of the match as his team suffered a 1-0 defeat against Nice, as they continue their battle to remain in the French top-flight.

Ayew’s journey to 200 Ligue 1 appearances has seen him represent three different clubs.

He initially began his Ligue 1 tenure with Olympique Marseille before embarking on a loan spell at Lorient.

Afterward, he returned to France in November 2023 to join Le Havre.

Notably, he amassed 160 appearances for Marseille, where he kickstarted his professional career, netting 44 goals.

During his loan stint at Lorient, Ayew featured in 22 Ligue 1 matches, finding the net three times.

Following his departure from France in 2015, Ayew made a comeback last November, signing for newly-promoted Le Havre.

Since then, he has appeared in 18 games, scoring five goals.

In his 200 Ligue 1 appearances, Ayew has impressively netted a total of 52 goals and provided 19 assists.

This milestone also sees Ayew surpass his father Abedi Pele’s Ligue 1 appearances by two, while also outscoring him by ten goals and providing five more assists.
