Prof Dodoo launches 2 books on health

Two books authored by Pharmacist and Director-General of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), Prof. Alex Dodoo, have been launched in Accra.

The two volumes titled ‘Healthy Secrets SUPER’ and “Healthy Secrets XTRA” are set to help readers navigate the often complex landscape of well-being. sections of the books address medications, ailments, medicines and gender, health professionals, lifestyle and health promotions.

Addressing his audience at the launch, Speaking at the book launch, Dr. Dodoo said healthy secrets, Super and ‘Xtra’ were books designed to provide health information and advice in a simple, clear, direct and humorous way knowing that the average person does not like reading.

Prof Dodoo hoped the books will serve as handy references for all Ghanaians so that they know the signs and symptoms of common ailments and also know how to manage them without the need for medicines.

Former Head of Public Relations at the GSA, Mr Peter Agbeko said “the wealth of knowledge, the depth of research, and the clarity of communication within these pages are sure to empower each reader on their journey to optimal health and vitality.”

Mr Agbeko was confident that the books will find their way into the hands and hearts of individuals hungry for reliable information and practical advice. He urged the audience not to hesitate to secure their personal copies and embark on a transformative voyage towards a healthier, happier life.

“As we embark on this celebration, let us take a moment to reflect on the profound importance of health communication. In a world inundated with information, where myths and misconceptions abound, effective health communication serves as a beacon of clarity amidst the fog. It empowers individuals to make informed decisions about their well-being, encourages proactive engagement with healthcare professionals, and fosters a culture of wellness within communities,” Mr Agbeko

According to him, “health communication transcends mere dissemination of facts; it cultivates empathy, understanding, and trust. It bridges the gap between healthcare providers and the public, fostering meaningful dialogue and promoting collaborative approaches to health promotion and disease prevention.”

The event was chaired by Rev. Akua Ofori-Boateng, Director of Programmes for the Anglican Diocese of Accra, and the books were launched by Prof F.C Mills-Robertson, Board Chairman of the GSA.
