Prez. Mahama Seeks Stronger Ghana–South Korea Partnership to Drive Industrial Growth

President John Dramani Mahama has outlined a vision for a mutually beneficial partnership between Ghana and South Korea, stressing that the two countries possess complementary strengths that could drive economic transformation and industrial growth.

Speaking during bilateral talks with the South Korean President, President Mahama said both nations stand to gain significantly by combining their respective advantages in natural resources, human capital, and technology.

“Ghana has the natural resources and human resources, and Korea has the technology and innovation, he stated.

The bilateral discussions focused on deepening cooperation between the two countries by leveraging Ghana’s abundant natural resources and youthful workforce alongside South Korea’s globally recognised technological expertise and innovative capacity.

President Mahama emphasised that such collaboration could open new opportunities for technology transfer, skills development, and increased investment, all of which are essential for transforming Ghana’s industrial sector and strengthening its competitiveness in the global economy.

“I believe that we can bring these two together in a win-win partnership,” he said, expressing confidence that closer ties would produce tangible benefits for both countries.

According to officials from both sides, the talks also explored prospects for joint ventures in key sectors, including manufacturing, digital technology, infrastructure development, and industrial innovation.

The engagement forms part of broader efforts by Ghana to attract strategic international partnerships that support economic diversification and sustainable development.

Government officials involved in the discussions expressed optimism that the renewed cooperation would translate into concrete projects and long-term investments. They believe such initiatives could strengthen economic relations between the two nations while positioning Ghana as a regional hub for innovation, technology-driven industries, and industrial advancement in West Africa.

If successfully implemented, the partnership is expected to enhance knowledge exchange, boost productivity, and accelerate Ghana’s transition towards a more modern and resilient economy.
