Königsdörffer Called Up to Black Stars Following Injuries to Inaki and Thomas-Asante

Hamburger SV forward Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer has received a late call-up to the Black Stars camp after injuries sidelined fellow forwards Inaki Williams and Brandon Thomas-Asante.
Both players picked up knocks during their league matches over the past weekend. Thomas-Asante started for Coventry City in their 3-0 win over Swansea City but was substituted in the 62nd minute for Josh Eccles after sustaining an injury. Meanwhile, Williams played the full 90 minutes as Athletic Bilbao beat Real Betis, but scans after the match confirmed a knock that ruled him out of the upcoming fixtures.
Königsdörffer, 22, has already joined the Black Stars in Vienna and is set to train with the squad on Tuesday afternoon. The forward has been a key performer for Hamburger SV this season, scoring four goals in 26 Bundesliga appearances.
The Black Stars are scheduled to face Austria on March 27, followed by a clash with Germany three days later. Königsdörffer’s inclusion bolsters Ghana’s attacking options ahead of these high-profile friendlies as coach prepares his squad for an important international window.
With Williams and Thomas-Asante sidelined, the onus will be on Königsdörffer and the remaining forwards to provide firepower, giving the 22-year-old an opportunity to stake his claim in the Black Stars lineup.
The team’s preparations in Vienna aim to fine-tune strategies and integrate new additions ahead of the challenging matches against two of Europe’s top sides.
