African Diaspora Nation unveils Tech Innovation Hub in Tema

From Selorm GBORBIDZI, Tema
The African Diaspora Nation (ADN), a pan-human sustainable development organisation, has unveiled a new robotics and tech innovation hub in Tema, in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.
The hub is meant to drive local research and interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.

It will also give them a platform for people interested in the future of technology to contribute to the advances being made in the new frontier of Information Communication Technology, and provide them with the online tools to aid their work.
According to Kwabena Boateng, the President of the ADN, the hub is “going to provide an entryway into the community of innovators who will invent and innovate… using science, technology, engineering and mathematics, robotics and AI, to build and invent in the context which addresses challenges that we have.”
He indicated that the platform being used at the hub will have multi-use applications to solve problems like vehicular traffic, climate change and environmental degradation.
In an interview with The Finder, he explained that the hub is equipped with virtual equivalents of physical machines which participants will have the opportunity interact with.
With this virtual equipment, he was optimistic that local innovators and scientists will be able to circumvent the constraints of having to acquire physical copies of these equipment whose cost could be prohibitive, and have the same outcomes as their colleagues in the United States and elsewhere around the world.
Kwabena Boateng stated that the hub is partnering with other tech hubs like the Coral Reef Innovation Hub and other technology innovation platforms, as well as educational institutions to enable them bring these innovations close to as many people as possible.
He said, “when we create a platform which allows people to interact with digital equivalent of hardware, digital models of hardware which behave exactly like the real thing, then you don’t need to keep buying actual physical hardware.”
He noted that the primary target of the ADN and its partners are students from Junior High to the university level.
They are also hoping to work with companies in Tema who have aspirations of up scaling.
“The goal is to move fast, to scale and transform mindsets and make impact.”
