Gov’t to launch digital labour market information system

The Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Dr Rashid Pelpuo, has announced that government is set to introduce a comprehensive Ghana Labour Market Information System (GLMIS) to modernise job search and employment data management across the country.

The digital platform, according to Dr Pelpuo, will serve as a centralised online hub hosting job vacancies from both the public and private sectors. It will allow job seekers to access opportunities nationwide with ease.

Speaking at the 3rd Annual General Meeting of the Health Sector Occupational Pension Scheme in Accra, the Minister said the initiative forms part of government’s broader efforts to promote transparency, accessibility and efficiency within Ghana’s labour market.

“The new system will bring together job listings from across sectors, helping to close the information gap between employers and job seekers. It will make it easier for individuals to explore available opportunities, apply online and receive timely feedback, all through a single national portal,” Dr Pelpuo stated.

He explained that the GLMIS will not only facilitate recruitment but also improve labour market data collection and analysis. This will help policymakers and employers understand emerging trends in employment, skills demand and workforce planning.

The Minister noted that the system will be accessible through all labour offices nationwide and integrated with existing digital public services to ensure inclusivity.

He noted government remains committed to creating a more dynamic, data-driven labour ecosystem that supports the youth, job seekers and businesses alike.

“We are building a future where technology bridges the gap between skills and opportunities. This is a major step towards reducing unemployment and aligning Ghana’s workforce with the needs of a fast-changing economy,” Dr Pelpuo added.
