Strategic ESG and Sustainability Impact Summit to lead dialogue on Net Zero economy

The Strategic ESG and Sustainability Impact Summit 2024 (SESI 24) will gather top business executives, policymakers, industry experts, and sustainability practitioners from November 13–14, 2024, at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra. This two-day summit aims to drive the conversation on aligning business strategies with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards to address the global climate crisis.
Organized in collaboration with the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Ghana, SESI 24 will operate under the theme “Towards a Net Zero Future for Businesses.” The summit will provide a crucial platform for collaboration, policy-making, and innovation, urging key stakeholders to act on the need for a sustainable future.
SESI 24 will be chaired by Professor Douglas Boateng, an internationally renowned expert in sustainable development and supply chain governance. Professor Boateng, who has been a vocal advocate for ESG practices both in Africa and globally, emphasized the importance of the summit, stating, “A net-zero future is not just a regulatory obligation—it is a moral and strategic imperative. The future of African businesses and economies hinges on how we respond to the sustainability challenge.”
The event will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, and workshops on decarbonization, sustainable finance, circular economy, and social impact governance. Attendees will gain insights into innovative solutions, emerging technologies, and regulatory frameworks essential for transitioning to a net-zero economy in Ghana and beyond. The summit also aligns with Ghana’s climate commitments under the Nationally Determined Contributions to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
One key initiative of SESI 24 is the “Sustainability Forest” project, which aims to plant 10,000 trees over two years. Each participant will have the opportunity to offset their carbon footprint by planting a tree, showcasing the summit’s dedication to climate resilience and environmental stewardship.
A major highlight of SESI 24 will be the Green Manifesto Matrix, where presidential candidates from various political parties will present their strategies for achieving net zero. This platform will encourage political leaders to align their agendas with the nation’s sustainability goals. Leaders across business, government, finance, and civil society are invited to join SESI 24 to shape the future of sustainability in Ghana.
