President Mahama Promises Justice, Transparency, Accountability for All

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to combating corruption, strengthening governance and protecting public resources
According to hi, tackling corruption remains a central pillar of his government’s agenda, reflecting a commitment to good governance, accountabilitycand prudent management of public resources. He revealed that enhanced collaboration among law enforcement agencies, financial intelligence institutions and prosecutors has led to concrete outcomes, including the initiation of criminal proceedings and asset recovery against individuals and entities implicated in financial crimes.
He added that by December 2025, over GH₵600 million had been recovered, 462 cases investigated, with 15 currently under prosecution. Transnational car-jacking syndicates were dismantled and 29 luxury vehicles recovered.
Acknowledging public impatience for swift justice, President Mahama emphasized the importance of following due process.
“I may be as impatient as everyone else to see justice done, but painstaking investigations must be conducted. Dockets must be prepared, charges must be filed and the accused must have their day in courts,” he said, underlining that careful legal procedures ensure only the guilty are punished while protecting the rights of citizens.
He revealed that his government has laid the Public Officers Code of Conduct Bill before Parliament, which codifies the expected conduct of public office holders and makes breaches punishable. He also commended the Chief Justice for establishing specialized high courts to address violations identified in Auditor General Report.
He explained that the constitutional review process was conducted transparently and consultatively, with input from constitutional experts, civil society organizations, traditional authorities, religious leaders, political parties and the general public.
The review committee submitted a comprehensive report containing proposals to amend the Constitution to address identified weaknesses and enhance welfare protections. He revealed that the Attorney General’s office is working with stakeholders to translate these recommendations into implementable legal and constitutional proposals for submission to Parliament.
President Mahama framed his approach as both firm and measured, ensuring accountability without undermining the rights of citizens.
