Real Betis target Ghanaian defender Jonas Adjetey
Ghana and FC Basel defender Jonas Adjetey has emerged as a transfer target for Spanish La Liga outfit Real Betis.
The La Liga club have opened negotiations with FC Basel and are ready to offer the Swiss giants 4 million Euros for the Ghanaian centre-back.
Adjetey has three years left on his current deal at Basel but could leave in the summer if a deal is struck between the two teams. The Black Stars player is reportedly interested in a move to the La Liga, as he fancies playing against some of the best in the world. According to Africafoot, a source close to the player’s management disclosed communication between the two parties has started.
“The two clubs (Basel and Real Betis) have been in contact for two days. Betis sees him as a future top-tier defender and wants to complete his transfer before his market value increases further. Discussions are
still in the early stages, but the situation is encouraging, especially since Jonas (Adjetey) is very interested in the move,” he said.
Meanwhile, Adjetey returns to Basel after a successful World Cup qualifiers with the Black Stars in March.
The 21-year-old has made 26 appearances across all competitions for FC Basel this season.
