Kurt Okraku thanks Ghanaians for massive support in Mali victory

By Lukman MUMIN

The President of Ghana’s Football Association, Kurt Okraku, has penned a heartfelt message to supporters of the Black Stars following their victory over Mali.

The Black Stars edged their West African rivals 1-0, courtesy of an Alexander Djiku strike, inching closer to another World Cup under the FA boss’s administration.

Fans of the senior national team turned out in large numbers to rally behind the team despite the disappointing draw in Chad four days earlier.

In a heartfelt message posted on Facebook, Mr Okraku wrote: “Thank you, Ghana! I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the good people of Ghana for the tremendous support shown to the Black Stars in our crucial encounter against Mali on Monday, 8 September 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

“It was a hard-fought battle on the pitch, and the energy, passion, and unyielding spirit of the 12th man in the stands made all the difference. Your voices, your cheers, and your unwavering belief lifted our team when it mattered most.

“On behalf of the players, technical team, and management, we say thank you, Ghana! Together, we will continue to prove that with unity and support, no challenge is insurmountable. Long live the Black Stars. Long live Ghana.”

The Black Stars could seal qualification to the tournament in North America by beating the Central African Republic in Morocco next month, before facing Comoros in the final match of Group I.
