IPR Ghana lauds Ghanaians for peaceful elections, calls for ethical communication

The Institute of Public Relations Ghana (IPR Ghana) has commended Ghanaians for conducting a largely peaceful election, describing the outcome as a significant milestone in the nation’s democratic journey.

In a statement, IPR Ghana acknowledged the successful conduct of the elections but expressed regret over unfortunate incidents that led to the loss of lives. “Our democratic journey continues successfully, albeit with some unfortunate experiences. Lives were sadly lost during the elections. We should all work together to avoid such loss of lives in future elections. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost loved ones during these elections,” the statement read.

The Institute extended gratitude to all individuals and organizations who supported its Speak Truth for Peace campaign, an initiative aimed at fostering ethical communication and ensuring peace during the electoral process.

Esther A. N. Cobbah, President of IPR Ghana and CEO of Strategic Communication Africa (Stratcomm Africa), emphasized the critical role of ethical communication in national development. “We all appreciate the importance of communication for human existence. What benefits humanity is ethical communication. Let us therefore commit to building our nation together on the basis of ethical communication in all aspects of our lives,” she said.

She further urged Ghanaians to unite beyond political affiliations and work collaboratively with the incoming President, the new government, and Members of Parliament to advance the country’s progress. “We must all now unite, irrespective of party affiliation, to work with the incoming President and his Government, as well as the new representatives of the people in Parliament, to uplift our lives as Ghanaians. God bless our homeland, Ghana!” she concluded. Ahead of the elections, IPR Ghana’s Speak Truth for Peace campaign highlighted the need for responsible and truthful communication, particularly among political party representatives, to safeguard peace during the electoral process. The campaign aligns with IPR Ghana’s longstanding advocacy for ethical communication as a cornerstone of national cohesion and development.
