Gov’t partners FAUREE to digitise agricultural financing

By Praisebell Rosemond Larbi

The government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with technology firm FAUREE Link Limited to develop and operate a digital platform for agricultural financing.

The agreement, signed by Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor, Director of Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness (PIAA), on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, sets the stage for the rollout of the Dobidi Agro-Input Credit and Farmer Financing Platform (DACFIP).

The platform is expected to serve as a comprehensive digital infrastructure connecting farmers with affordable financing, input suppliers, aggregators, offtakers, and financial institutions.

Unlocking Agricultural Financing through Innovation

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr. Otokunor called the initiative a transformative effort to close the long-standing gap between farmers and financial services.

“This collaboration is not just about technology. It’s about unlocking opportunities for agricultural financing. We are leveraging this innovation to enable efficient, transparent, and inclusive access to finance across the agricultural value chain,” he said.

DACFIP will include features such as identity verification, transaction monitoring, and seamless integration with major stakeholders in the sector.

These tools are designed to improve transparency, reduce risk, and ensure that smallholder farmers, often excluded from formal credit systems, can fully benefit from Ghana’s agricultural economy.

FAUREE’s Role and Technical Expertise

FAUREE will lead the design, deployment, operation, and maintenance of the platform. The company has been praised for its technical strength and alignment with the government’s digital transformation goals.

PIAA commended FAUREE for its innovation and dedication to the shared mission of measurable impact for farmers across Ghana.

“As we move forward, we do so with the determination to build a stronger agricultural future, one where farmers are empowered, value chains are integrated, and the promise of inclusive agribusiness is fully realized,” Dr. Otokunor added.

Towards an Inclusive Agricultural Ecosystem

DACFIP is part of a broader national strategy to modernize agriculture, boost productivity, and promote inclusive economic growth.

By digitizing access to finance, the platform aims to eliminate traditional obstacles faced by rural farmers, including lack of collateral, physical distance from financial institutions, and informal market practices.

Officials also say the platform will improve policy planning by offering data-driven insights into financing trends, farmer behavior, and market dynamics.
