Jordan Ayew registers first goal of season for Leicester
Jordan Ayew gave Leicester City fans a moment to cheer as his early goal helped them secure a 2-2 draw against Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.
The Ghanaian striker showed sharp movement in the box, finishing calmly in the 13th minute to cancel out Will Lankshear’s opener for Oxford.
Ayew worked tirelessly throughout the 90 minutes, linking play and lifting the spirits of the travelling supporters. His compatriot, Fatawu Issahaku, also impressed with 70 minutes of energetic wing play.
Leicester’s task grew harder when Aaron Ramsey was sent off midway through the first half. Oxford made the advantage count, retaking the lead through a Boubakary Soumare own goal before the break.
Despite the setback, Leicester fought back with determination. Ayew’s hard running created space, and in the 55th minute Fatawu set up Ricardo Pereira, who slotted home the equaliser.
The final whistle left both sides sharing the points, with Oxford looking lively but Leicester showing resilience. City will now turn to their clash with Coventry on 20 September.
