Agyemang Badu calls for inclusion of more local players in Black Stars

Ex-Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has urged head coach Otto Addo to include more Ghana Premier League (GPL) players in the national team following a series of disappointing results.
Recently, only Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare has been selected as a local-based player and he is yet to feature in any match for the Black Stars.
This has left the former Berekum Chelsea and Great Olympics player concerned with the neglect of the local league.
“We will beg the coach to look into our league too and then invite some players,” Agyemang-Badu stated in an interview with Asempa FM.
Agyemang-Badu, a product of the Ghana Premier League himself, emphasized that the local league has talented players capable of handling the African football terrain.
“Are they saying that there is no one player among the more than 6000 players in the Ghana Premier League who can compete for a place in the Black Stars?” he questioned.
The former Udinese midfielder believes that giving GPL players an opportunity in the national team will strengthen the Black Stars ahead of future competitions.
