SSNIT rewards clients at Abossey Okai

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has on the occasion of the celebration of the national chocolate day rewarded contributors to the scheme who are on SSNIT’s Self Employed Enrolment project.
Some officers of SSNIT on Wednesday moved from shop to shop at Abossey Okai in Accra and distributed bars of chocolates with a thank you for your loyalty message for the traders.
The SEED project aligns with SSNIT’s mission to extend pension coverage to all workers, including those who work for themselves. Since the rollout of SEED, the Trust has seen positive feedback in terms of patronage from the self employed.
Explaining the motivation behind SSNIT’s Chocolate Day interaction, Member and Clients Services Manager at SSNIT , Madam Victoria Gifty Abaidoo said “We all know that February 14 is a day set aside as National Chocolate Day for Ghana and so SSNIT took advantage of the occasion to celebrate and appreciate our members and clients,”
The Trust had for the past four years made it part of its mandate to appreciate all its clients and members who visit all 51branches of SSNIT.
According to Madam Abaidoo, it was a deliberate decision not to sit and wait for the subscribers to come to SSNIT but for staff of the Trust to go down to the people, in appreciation of the loyalty they had shown.
“Today we decided that we are not going to sit in our offices and wait for our members and clients to come to us before we celebrate and appreciate them so we decided to go to the market, to the shops, to celebrate our self-employed or owners of businesses who are plying their trade in the comfort of their shops and in the markets ,” Madam Abaidoo explained.
Some of the traders who spoke to The New Finder said they were impressed with the interactive session initiated by SSNIT as well as the distribution of chocolates to mark the national chocolate day and in appreciation of their loyalty to the Trust.
“The SSNIT scheme has been timely, it is good for us because it will help is prepare for our retirement. The kind of work we do here is very strenuous and we can’t continue doing it for long.
A time will come when we have to retire to rest; that’s when we must fall on our contributions with SSNIT,” Bright Egyir, a spare parts dealer told this paper.
