Police assure Ghanaians of post-election security

The Ghana Police Service has assured citizens of their safety following the post-election period, with no major security incidents reported in the past 24 hours. At a press briefing held at the National Police Headquarters Election Security Task Force Center in Accra, ACP Grace Ansah Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, emphasized the continued efforts of the National Election Security Task Force to maintain peace and order across the country.
“We urge the general public to go about their normal socio-economic activities without any worries,” ACP Akrofi said, highlighting the effective strategies implemented to ensure the safety of lives and property nationwide.
Updating the public on the status of arrests made in connection with election-related incidents, ACP Akrofi disclosed that a total of 123 individuals have been arrested to date. Of these, 49 have been processed for court, with 16 granted court bail and 33 remanded into police or prison custody, awaiting further court appearances. Additionally, 70 suspects are on police inquiry bail, adhering to constitutional requirements.
In the last 24 hours, four new suspects have been apprehended and are in police custody. They are expected to appear before the court tomorrow.
Addressing rumours about the disappearance of Mr. Abraham Ato Annang, Efutu National Democratic Congress constituency second vice chairman, ACP Akrofi clarified that he is in good health, with his family, and in contact with the police. “We urge the public to disregard misinformation and disinformation concerning his whereabouts,” she added.
The police reiterated their commitment to ensuring peace, security, and law and order across the country, reassuring Ghanaians of their dedication to protecting lives and property.
