Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has reportedly emerged as a potential replacement to Mohamed Salah at Liverpool, with the Egyptian’s contract set to expire at the end of the season.
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool’s recruitment team, led by Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, are focused on scouting emerging talents, particularly for positions that may need filling within the next year. Semenyo has become a prominent candidate.
The 24-year-old has shown notable progress at Bournemouth, netting five goals in his last 14 Premier League outings last season and three goals in nine matches this season under head coach Andoni Iraola.
Semenyo has also garnered interest from other Premier League teams, including Newcastle, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur. His desire to compete in the Champions League could make Liverpool a desirable option.
“I aspire to compete in the Champions League or Europa League. I know it requires dedication and isn’t something achieved overnight. I need to stay consistent and keep scoring to move forward in my career,”Semenyo told The Athletic last month.
Semenyo scored for AFC Bournemouth on Saturday as the Cherries ended Manchester City’s unbeaten run in 29024.
