Kumasi Lumba candlelight vigil postponed as nation mourns helicopter crash victims3

The Kumasi edition of the candlelight vigil in honor of the late music legend Daddy Lumba, originally scheduled for Saturday, August 9, has been postponed indefinitely.
The Creative Arts Agency, organizers of the event, announced the decision in a press statement dated Thursday, August 7, 2025.
The statement was signed by the acting Executive Secretary of the Agency, Gideon Aryeequaye.
The postponement is in respect for the eight individuals who lost their lives in a recent helicopter crash.
The move follows President John Dramani Mahama’s declaration of three days of national mourning from August 7 to 9, 2025, in honor of the victims.
The planned Kumasi vigil was to follow a successful edition held at Independence Square in Accra on Saturday, August 2, 2025.
That event drew hundreds of fans, fellow musicians, and dignitaries who gathered to pay tribute to one of Ghana’s most influential musicians.
