I can bet on Alan Victory – Ejisumanhene
The Omanhene of Ejisu Traditional Area, Oguakro Afrane Okese II, has thrown his weight behind the candidature of Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen in the race for the flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking during a courtesy call on him at his palace in Ejisu at the start of his constituency campaign tour of the Ashanti region, the Nana Afranie OKesse II, referred to Alan as his ‘beloved son of the land’, and assured him of his unflinching support and that of his family.
The Omanhene also invoked the spirit of the legendary female warrior, Yaa Asantewaa, the late brave queen mother of Ejisu, to support the bid of Alan who is a son of the land.
“He is my son and the gods and spirit of the legendary Yaa Asantewaa are behind him”, Ejisumanhene said.
Alan’s visit to Ejisu is a significant return to his roots, as the chief’s palace was overflowing with people eager to catch a glimpse of him amidst cultural drumming and dancing.
Earlier, the Ejisu township was set agog as people swarmed the streets with shouts of ‘aduro wo su’, ‘yedie nie’, in show of appreciation and support for Alan as he walked through the town to interact with them.
As has been his style, Alan will hold cluster meetings with executives of all 47 constituencies in the Ashanti region between Monday, 7 and Saturday, 12 of August, when he ends his tour of the region
Kyerematen, is tipped by many to win both the NPP primaries and the 2024 presidential elections.
The 10 aspirants who have been approved by the National Council of the party for the special delegates conference (Special Electoral College) are Kwadwo Poku, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
The rest are Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, Dr Owusu Akoto Afriyie, Joe Ghartey, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.
The Special Electoral College scheduled for August 26, 2023, which would be held at each of the 16 Regional capitals, is to shortlist five out of the 10 aspirants for the November 4, 2023 National Congress to elect a presidential candidate to contest on the ticket of the party for the 2024 general election.
