Cybastion launches American Tech Hub to boost Burkina Faso’s digital growth

Cybastion, a major U.S. technology company, has launched the American Tech Hub in Burkina Faso to support the country’s fast-growing digital sector. The hub was introduced during the 20th edition of Digital Week, an annual technology event held from November 18–21.
The new hub is designed to help Burkina Faso strengthen its digital skills, improve its technology systems, and build long-term digital independence. It features an exhibition space where visitors can explore new tools and innovations from top U.S. tech companies such as Entrust, Vertiv, Uptime Institute, and Credence ID. Local tech company Open SI is also part of the project.
Armand Tchokokam, Cybastion’s Executive Vice President and co-founder, said the company’s goal is to support Burkina Faso in building strong and lasting digital systems. He explained that Cybastion wants Burkinabè institutions to fully own and manage these technologies. “Every project we lead aims to build skills, support innovation, and strengthen the country’s digital sovereignty,” he said.
Digital Week 2025 was held under the theme “Artificial Intelligence at the Heart of Digital Transformation.” U.S. Ambassador to Burkina Faso Joann M. Lockard joined Cybastion leaders in touring the various exhibition zones and meeting visitors.
Burkina Faso, a country of about 23 million people, is experiencing rapid digital development. More than 75% of its population is under the age of 35, creating strong demand for technology skills and opportunities. Mobile internet usage continues to rise, reaching over 82%, mainly through 3G and 4G networks.
To support this growing digital youth, Cybastion and its non-profit arm, Theya Foundation, are partnering with the government and Cisco through the Africa DigiEmpower initiative. Together, they will deliver a three-day digital training program to help young people develop skills needed for jobs in the digital economy.
Cybastion’s Chief Operating Officer, André Biyong, explained that the training aims to create a skilled workforce capable of supporting a modern and independent digital system. “Our ambition is to help build strong infrastructure and give young people the skills they need to drive sustainable digital transformation,” he said.
The American Tech Hub also highlights Cybastion’s five-year partnership with Burkina Faso. During this time, the company has helped modernise the country’s digital systems and provided training for young people and women in fields like cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and information technology.
