We’ve concluded negotiations with govt for new CBA – HSWU

THE Health Services Workers’ Union (HSWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Ghana, says that it has successfully concluded negotiations with the government on a revised Collective Agreement for health sector employees under the Ministry of Health.
The union confirmed that it reached an understanding on the revised terms on November 11, 2024, following nearly a year of deliberations and delays.
The HSWU initially submitted proposals for the review in November 2023 to the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission.
However, the negotiation process experienced setbacks, leading to a temporary standoff between the union and government representatives.
In a press statement, HSWU General Secretary Franklin Owusu Ansah expressed relief that the agreement has finally been reached, praising the dedication and sacrifice of the negotiation team, which often met late into the night to ensure members’ interests were addressed.
The union has directed its leadership and all members across various levels to closely monitor the implementation of the agreed terms to safeguard the rights and benefits of health workers.
“We want to thank the members of the Union for their patience, support, and encouragement throughout the difficult times,” he said
Ansah added that the union remains committed to upholding the best interests of its members. He indicated that although the specifics of the agreement have not yet been disclosed, he assured union members that the details would be shared in the coming days.
