PassionAir slashes domestic airfares by 10% after cedi strengthens

By Praisebell Rosemond Larbi

PassionAir, one of Ghana’s leading domestic carriers, has announced a 10 percent reduction in airfares across all its routes in a move aimed at easing travel costs for Ghanaians and strengthening connectivity within the country.

The airline made the announcement through its official social media platforms following a meeting convened by Transport Minister Joseph Bukari Nikpe and the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) last week. During the meeting, the Minister appealed to domestic carriers to consider reducing their prices in view of the strengthening of the cedi against major currencies, particularly the US dollar.

PassionAir explained that its decision to cut fares was influenced by lower operational costs stemming from the improved exchange rate. This price adjustment, according to the airline, aligns with its ongoing commitment to making air travel more convenient, accessible, and wallet-friendly for Ghanaians—especially at a time when many are seeking more flexible and cost-effective transportation options within the country.

The 10 percent fare cut applies to all its routes, including Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, and Tamale, delivering greater value to both business and leisure travelers alike. The reduced fares come as a significant boost for companies, tourists, families, and individuals who frequently travel across the country by air.

PassionAir further assured its passengers that despite the reduced prices, its high standards of service, safety, and professionalism will remain a top priority. The company stressed that the price adjustment will enable more Ghanaians to connect with their families, pursue business opportunities, foster greater social interaction, and contribute positively to the country’s overall economic growth.
